WOW! Factor: Results in Young People’s Photo Competition
Nov 30th, 2009 | By Carolyn Keene | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse
The Quay Arts Learning Curve Gallery is to be transformed in December with photographs from some fine and talented young Isle of Wight Photographers.
The WOW! FACTOR photography competition for 14-18 yr olds was borne of an idea from students Jess Smith and Lydia Denham, who decided to create something to get young people involved with Quay Arts.
As Island Pulse advertised in August the ‘WOW FACTOR’ photo competition which for a £1 entry fee, two 14-18yr olds would get the chance of winning a photography masterclass. After a request to put a call out for entries a few days before the close of the competition, we are told there were over 50 entries and the judges found it difficult to choose only 20.

The exhibition of the 20 shortlisted works opened in the Learning Curve Gallery on Saturday 28th November 2009 and closes Saturday 9th January 2010.
‘From nature to fashion, inspiring landscapes to macro, there’s something for everyone in this eclectic mix of photographs by young islanders.’
Island Pulse now discover not two but five lucky photographers are to get the opportunity of having a masterclass with one of the Isle of Wight’s leading Photographers.
‘Gaining first hand experience on how to create Photos that really have the WOW! FACTOR.’
The young photographers will be chosen by public vote and announced on Saturday 19th December. Best pop along quick smart and vote for your favourite photo.
Announcement of winners and prize giving: Saturday 19th December 2pm at Quay Arts Newport.
