Witness Appeal After Alleged Assault In Newport

Isle of Wight Police News. Image Isle of Wight  Police Station. Copyright Island PulseIsle of Wight Police are appealing for information from witnesses who saw an assault at Newport bus station on Monday afternoon, January 28th.

Sometime between 2.50 and 3.10pm, an older man is alleged to have punched a younger Newport man, 24, in the face.  The victim was left with a bloody nose.
 
PC Alan Spence said there were many people in and around the bus station at the time of the alleged assault. “We need to hear from anyone who heard words exchanged between the two men or who saw an assault,” PC Spence said.
 
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Spence at Newport on 101.
 
A 43-year-old Newport man was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed, pending police enquiries, until February 11.
