WIGHT HOT PIPES In New CD

Sep 18th, 2009 | By Citizen Media | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

WIGHT HOT PIPES a New CD  ‘The Road Ahead’  With Piping Hot Doc and friends has been released by Isle of Wight GP aka Award winning bagpiper Dr Kieron Cooney, to raise funds for the The Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

On the CD there will be favourites such as the tear jerker Highland Cathedral played with the IOW Youth Concert Band and the popular dance piece Gay Gordons,  Hendrix guitar style.

We managed to capture these exclusive photos of the Wight Hot Piping Doc & Friends on the ‘road ahead’ as we were driving along the Military Road last Sunday.  First thoughts ‘this must be some act, stunt or photo shoot from the Bestival’, however on checking our inbox we discovered the launch details from Dr Kieron Cooney and the penny dropped. We expect they were shooting the New CD Cover which is released later this month.

A GP on Isle of Wight… an award winning bagpiper…7-foot 7inches in his Busby… It must be Piping Hot Doc …And the new CD out soon is not just the bagpipes but a contemporary mix of   bagpipe music with violin, guitar, keyboard, vocals and even rock music…and it’s all in aid of The Earl Mountbatten Hospice,  with support  from Alan Titchmarsh.

The CD will buzz with the sounds of bagpipes, as you have never heard them before.  There will be exciting new and unique mixes of popular tunes.  From Amazing Grace, the theme tune  from Titanic, and Rod Stewart’s Sailing, with the sweet vocals of Charlotte Barton Hoare and electric guitar of Jamie Griffin, to the bagpipe versions of the Queen’s rock piece ‘We will Rock you’ and Going Home from Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.

The Pipes are Calling, a stirring and moving tribute to men at war is a key piece on the CD and provokes thoughts of loved ones lost, whether through conflict of war or disease and is thought provoking especially considering the purpose of the CD is to raise money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

The album will culminate with The Last Post on bugle and Flowers of the Forest on pipes with Alan Titchmarsh’s rendering of  ‘The Fallen’.

The CD is fun, provocative, and distinctive, and is produced to the highest quality, thanks to the skills of producer Jamie Griffin of Flyte Studio.

You don’t have to enjoy bagpipes to love this CD. There is something for everyone, young or old, traditional or contemporary.

The CD will be available  at the end of September click here for more information and more from the Doc on his website here: www.pipinghotdoc.com
