Wight ‘Healthy Life’ New Year Resolution

West Wight Sports Centre’s ‘Healthy Life Club’

Another new year is fast approaching and no doubt most of us will have a variety of new year resolutions. Many will be aiming to lose weight in 2010, some will just want to get a little fitter.

There’s all sorts of reasons why getting fit and losing weight is a good idea, but probably the best one is that it can actually be fun and sociable….and having fun and socialising is a very important aspect of our mental health and well-being; something that people often forget in this busy world that we live and work in.

At West Wight Sports Centre there’s a brand new club starting in the new year and the aim is to give people the opportunity and incentive to do some exercise, lose weight (if that’s what you want) and generally improve their lifestyle. The group is lead by one of the Centre’s instructors and will be on Monday mornings.

Healthy lifestyle is not just about weight loss, so the sessions will include a short talk each week on different health issues – eg: heart disease, inactivity and links to cancer, diabetes, alcohol consumption and more. Each session will have a fitness class, but the idea is that everyone (regardless of their fitness level) will be able to complete it. Then you’ll be given two vouchers each week so that you can take part in any other activities of your choice at the Centre during the week (well you didn’t think you were going to achieve your goal with only one session a week did you?!).

So go on – do it this new year…stop talking or just thinking about it….sign up now and make that commitment to a new you! They really are looking forward to seeing you at West Wight Sports Centre and they’re sure they can make a difference to you!
