The wet weather on the Isle of Wight is set to continue, the heaviest of the rain is predicted for tonight with showers throughout the rest of the week.

According to Wroxall Weather Station here on the Isle of Wight:

A huge rain event is currently heading our way from the SW, the bulk of this system will hit France but the top edge will reach us over night tonight and will continue throughout tomorrow.

Howard Davidson, Regional Director for the Environment Agency in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight said:

“We are monitoring the rainfall and river flows very carefully and we have people out across the region in case of flooding.

“People should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding if a lot of rain falls in a short space of time.”

There are currently no flood warnings in force for the Isle of Wight.
