Welcome to “Citizen Journalism”
Jun 1st, 2006 | By Amanda Johnson | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseThe Editor would like to welcome all of our readers to Island Pulse. Given time we hope to inform, entertain and offer all Islanders the opportunity of becoming actively involved with this INDEPENDENT online magazine, with your input let’s make this website for the Isle of Wight a place to be seen in.
The Island Pulse is unique as the first dedicated to citizen journalism on the Isle of Wight, with the help of the community the website could grow to play a major role as a prominent online information provider for the entire Island.
Whilst writing the News is second nature to trained journalists, the Island Pulse will actively encourage our readers to do it too, we are looking for contributors who would like to act as reporters in their chosen area, where they live, or would be Arts critics who would like to have their say on the latest films, books or music.
Island Pulse as a community social enterprise and welcomes shared experiences and successes, where ordinary people can write the news, get their pictures posted and express their views on any topic relating to Island life live on the internet. It’s relatively simple to send in articles or pictures, especially via e-mail and suitable stories may also be forwarded for possible publication to existing island press.
Words and images will be with us forever, it is the individual’s ingenuity that will deliver it.
We Need You!!!!
