Jun 13th, 2008 | By Lucy Johnson | In: Isle of Wight Festival, On TV
For those not lucky enough to be attending this weekend’s Isle Of Wight Festival fear not, Lauren Laverne and Matt Willis will host ITV2 coverage, with one-hour specials across the weekend.
Viewers at home can catch the action from the comfort of their sofa and not even have to worry about the weather turning sour.
Festival favourites Lauren and Matt will bring viewers the hottest performances, the most exciting interviews and the juiciest snippets of backstage gossip.
Lauren said:
“This year’s Isle of Wight festival has their best bill yet. In fact the whole island is about to turn into one big, floating hotbed of rock ‘n’ roll iniquity. I’m packing up my dinghy and abandoning the mainland to record proceedings for ITV2 - can’t wait.”
Matt Willis said:
“I can’t wait to get to the Isle of Wight, each band will be brilliant but I can’t wait for The Wombats and The Sex Pistols.”
Lauren will be based in the exclusive ITV2 studio where she will talk to some of the festival’s biggest bands. Matt will be a roving reporter interviewing famous faces backstage and getting the low-down from the punters watching the sets.
ITV2’s three-day coverage will also feature performances from each artist and band to take to the main stage, including a live performance form each of the headlining acts, nightly at 11pm.
This year’s line up is impressive. With bands such as The Kooks, Sex Pistols, Kaiser Chiefs, The Police, and Scouting For Girls headlining, you won’t want to miss a minute of the action. In addition, catch The Hoosiers, N*E*R*D, The Zutons, Kate Nash, The Wombats, The Sugababes, Starsailor, The Enemy and the legendary Ian Brown.
Click on www.isleofwightfestival.com/ for details of all the acts featuring but there are old folk bands appearing including Curved Air on Friday 13th June (on The Big Top stage).
Lots of local bands and artistes will be playing all weekend too, including JC and Angelina, Irish Dave, Slainte Va, Paul Armfield, The Wellbeing. It’s going to be big and better than before and you will be spoilt for choice.
ITV2 will be broadcasting from the festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 11pm to midnight, with a highlights show the following week on Thursday 19th at 11.40pm.
