The Island will soon be flying our very own flag but its up to the public to vote on a new design that Islanders feel they can identify with.
For those not up on the news, since July, 372 design entries from across the Isle of Wight have been whittled down to 4 flag designs pictured opposite, in a competition organised by the Island Flag Committee and the Isle of Wight County Press
The design a flag competition organised by the Island Flag Committee and the IWCP was open to all Islanders and the judging panel were very impressed with the standard of entries. The winner of the competition which closes on 5th January 2009, will receive £50 along with their own flag printed with their winning design.
The editorial team at Island Pulse have chosen their favourite and we’re not letting on which one, but you can vote on your choice of winning design by picking up this weeks IWCP and turning to page 27 of the Weekender.
Voting remains open until 5th January 2009 and the winner announced in the Isle of Wight County Press on 9th January 2009.

I have good reason to beleive that the selection and voting for a new flag to be unfair . Major reason being when i went to county press for voting form i was asked to pay , where is the free vote . Secondly we where only given a choice of 4 flags out of 372 and all 4 being dimond flags .
Also when inquiring about voting form , “can i make copies for other ” the answer was no originals only . Thirdly , the voting forms only issued in County press (weekender)12th dec and votes to be in by 5th jan . I feel this is not enough time for the people of the Island to vote on something that will be very important . It seams to be exclusive to the County press . Scandalous i say . Its supposed to be a people flag for the Isle of Wight , not a self appionted flag committee flag .
