Twelve Days of Christmas Pantomime @ Ventnor Winter Gardens
Oct 9th, 2008 | By Jane Garner | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseGet ready to boo, hiss and cheer your panto heroes and villains, as the award winning Ventnor Theatre Group brings a fresh, new story to the Isle of Wight for the very first time.
The Theatre Group’s Christmas panto is always an action-packed extravaganza and this year they will be performing ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’, a magical pantomime written in a traditional style, but at the same time refreshingly different!
In true panto style, the Queen is to throw a grand Festive Ball for all the villagers on Christmas Day and, to mark the occasion, a giant advent calendar has been built with 12 doors, to be opened one each day. Christmas cannot begin until all the doors are open, but a villainous wicked wizard is determined to stop the festivities and scatters the keys all over the world.
Helped by the Christmas Fairy and even Santa himself, our assortment of characters including a handsome prince, madcap village idiots, a pretty heroine and an outrageous dame, embark on a hilarious race against time, with brief adventures in such exotic locations as Egypt, Latin America and the Land of Snow and Ice.
Will the final key be retrieved on Christmas Eve in time to save Christmas? With dazzling costumes, the fun and frolics will have you laughing out loud and with fabulous songs, choreography and music we’re sure your toes will be tapping all the way home. A perfect Christmas treat for all the family!
Performances will be held at Ventnor Winter Gardens on Thursday 11th, Friday 12th, Saturday 13th December at 7.30pm, with a Sunday matinee on the 14th December at 2.30pm. Book your tickets in advance by calling the box office on 01983 857581, or purchase on the door one hour before curtain up, if available. Tickets £6.50 and £5.50.
