Try to Make the Longest Day a Carbon-Free Day.

Jun 21st, 2007 | By Vincent Woods | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

On the longest day of the year, the sun is at its most northerly point, which means that Britain has the longest period between the sun rising and setting.

Here’s a day of personal action that we could all be participating in:

Just 1 Day are organising an event for the 21st June where they are encouraging people to experience one day of their lives without fossil fuels.

“Can you live for one day without fossil fuels?”

“21st June, Midsummer’s Day will be the first Carbon-Free Day. For one day, climate change will not be ‘their’ problem or ‘the government’s’ problem, or ‘America or China’s’ problem; it will be ‘my’ problem. It will be our opportunity to live one day differently.”

This seems to fit really well with a vision of a calendar as the lightest day of the year is one where people take their impact seriously and live differently.
