The TV series ‘Tiger Island’, which follows the fortunes of feline residents such as Rambo (pictured) of the Isle of Wight Zoo, has won a prestigious ITV award.

Judges praised the series, which was first broadcast on ITV Meridian in June of last year, for being popularist and entertaining, and exactly the sort of thing that viewers want to watch.

At the ITV News Group Awards ceremony in London on Saturday 15th March, Tiger Island, which is made by Athena Films for ITV Meridian, was named Best Popular Feature Programme of 2007.

Filming is now complete for a second series of Tiger Island, to be shown on ITV Meridian in the summer of 2008.  If you missed series one, there is a second chance for satellite TV viewers to see it on National Geographic Wild (Sky digital 528), at 9am each morning starting on Tuesday 25th March.
