
The Island Wine Company in Ventnor, are building a reputation for sourcing interesting and often quirky wines from well known regions and far flung places. El Primero Graciano is ‘a treat on its own’ and just one of the fine wines provided for a drinks reception at the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards.
If big high street brands and supermarket wines aren’t really your thing, you’ll find the Island Wine Company, as a local business supply the Isle of Wight with quality wines at great prices. Such as the Wine of the Month El Primero Graciano 3 Riberas 2009, priced at a reasonable £6.99 a bottle.
The Island Wine Company kindly provided red and white wines for a drinks reception at the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards and Exhibition launch at the Quay Arts.
The El Primero Graciano (pictured) is a vibrantly fruity, Spanish red, brim-full of ripe black cherry and plum jam flavours with a piercing fragrance. According to experts at the Island Wine Company “Graciano is usually found giving freshness to top Rioja blends“.
As a complementary white balance, award winning photographers and guests were also able to sample ‘The Opportunist’, a light, white Australian Sauvignon Blanc Riesling 2009 (pictured below). This wine from Adelaide Hills was well framed and bursting with vibrant, grassy, grapefruit flavours all rounded out with Australian gusto!
The comprehensive information provided on the bottle was indeed quite opportune too!
“When everyone else sees doom and gloom, the opportunist sees blue skies and sunshine. Love him or hate him. The Opportunist always comes out on top”. Quite an apt and refreshing little number for the all seeing in focus Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards.
The Island Wine Company retail outlet has a range of wine for all budgets with quality never sacrificed; they also provide an extensive range of off-licence products. A relatively new independent wine merchant the company opened their doors for the first time in mid November 2010.
