With the credit crunch and environmental issues in mind collections will show that you can still be stylish on a shoestring, with designs created from recyclable materials and a ‘make do and mend’ philosophy.
This highly creative body of work draws on a diversity of themes such as the 50th birthday of the Barbie doll, George Orwell’s 1984, the aesthetic beauty of derelict and abandoned buildings on the Isle of Wight and the gangland murders of the 1920s, to mention but a few.
The four represented in this exhibition are just a few of the art, design and media honours degree courses offered at Southampton Solent. The wide range of others include Film, Television, Performance, Fine Art, Fashion Styling, Popular Music, Journalism, Media Culture and Interior Design.
