Suspected Race Attack in Shanklin

Police are appealing for witnesses after allegations of an unprovoked, racially aggravated assault on the Isle of Wight.
 
A 20-year-old Polish man has told officers he was outside an address in the High Street near Barclays Bank at approximately 11.40pm on Wednesday, December 23 when a group of young men approached him.
 
It’s alleged the group of young men shouted comments at the victim, referring to his Polish nationality, before assaulting him.
 
The victim received scratches to his face, he did not receive medical treatment.
 
The suspects are described as:

  • Four white men, aged in their late teens, early 20s, wearing sports clothing.
  • One suspect had blond hair with dark eyebrows, and was 5 ft 5 ins tall.
  • Another suspect is described as skinny with short cropped dark hair.
