Year 9 students at all of the Isle of Wight’s five high schools will be shown the serious consequences of drinking during a forthcoming theatre production.

A visiting play called ‘Last Orders’ will put on a series of plays at the schools from Monday 19 October. This project is supported by the Isle of Wight Council’s Trading Standards Service and the Isle of Wight Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and is contributing to the National Alcohol Awareness Week (19-23 October).

The 60 minute show sees a cast of three re-enacting an evening of binge drinking. Based on real life events, the three young characters suffer a series of consequences as a result of their drinking.

Following the performance the audience have the opportunity to interview the characters in a TV talk show style format. The students then discover the lessons they have learnt and are able to explore the issues in more detail.

The production will visit each high school between Monday 19 Thursday 22 October with more than 1400 students will see the play over the course of the week.
