Step Aboard Gipsy Moth IV @ Cowes

This week Gipsy Moth IV is welcoming visitors to step back in time and board her for free during Skandia Cowes Week.
Courtesy of the Isle of Wight Classic Boat Museum, everyday between 11.30am - 2.30pm until Thursday 7th August, anyone that visits will be able to take an onboard tour of Gipsy Moth IV, at her mooring in Cowes Yacht Haven.

Once your appetite is whetted, you can discover more about the Gipsy Moth IV and her amazing adventures by visiting the brand new exhibit at the Classic Boat Museum Gallery in East Cowes.
The Museum opened its new Gallery at East Cowes just before Cowes Week last year. Situated on the ground floor of the Venture Quays building, thats the one with the big Union Jack on the front they have their own entrance right by the harbour wall.
There are permanent displays of maritime interest especially the history of sailing in Cowes and the Solent. The displays relate to Sir Frances Chichester and Gipsy Moth IV, Uffa Fox, Ellen McArthur, the J-class and others of local and wider interest. There is a small cafe, a shop, reference facilities and a mini cinema showing maritime DVDs.

Back to some details of the lady herself: Gipsy Moth IV was built in 1966 for round-the-world sailor, Sir Francis Chichester. Following major restoration, she is now owned by UKSA.
