With the promise of spring just around the corner Osborne House has two glorious garden workshops on offer in early March.
On Tuesday 6 March, garden enthusiasts can enjoy a plant propagation workshop with Head Gardener, Toby Beasley (pictured). The workshop will offer a hands on demonstration of the various techniques employed within Osborne’s glasshouses and propagation facilities to produce plants from seeds and cuttings.
He will also look at the different composts used and the tools needed for the job. Participants can try their hand at taking cuttings and sowing seeds to take away and grow on at home. Lunch will be provided.
On Friday 9 March, creative types can join retired professional florist Linda Hopkins from Lake to learn the secrets of successful florestry design. Whether to arrange flowers for the home or for a special event, particpants will be taken through the basic steps – from creating the base with layered foliage and evergreens harvested from Osborne’s gardens to adding their choice of colourful and fragrant spring flowers – so that they can confidently produce their own unique arrangement.
The day includes a tour with a knowledgeable guide around the ground floor rooms of the house and a light lunch.
