Solar launches in St Thomas’ Square Newport on Saturday 30 April at midday with live music from Derek Sandy bringing some Caribbean sunshine to the Island and Wild Oats with their acoustic rock-folk. Meanwhile the workshops will inspire and stimulate creativity with recycled materials while the Footprint Trust encourages everyone to “fling-a-pooh”! The Wight Climate Exhibition will be running inside the Minster including local photography and the Bubble Earth interactive sculpture.
Sam Buck of Natural Enterprise said “There’s so much planned; we’re putting on a variety of free entertainment this Saturday with lots to see and more to do and we hope that people will come down and have some fun”.
From midday on Saturday through to 8pm there will be continuous entertainment culminating with a Solar Powered Cinema featuring short quirky films from the Festival Circuit along with wine tasting and fire- breathing. Events through the week include an architectural urban tour of Newport, a coffee morning in Newport Minster and a Weather Station Tour.
