Snow Falls on the Isle of Wight.

Signs that spring was finally in the air vanished overnight, as the weather turned wintry and the Isle of Wight woke up to a blanket of snow this morning (Sunday).
However, weather forecasters predict within a few hours much of the white stuff will melt away.
Whilst, snow this morning will become very heavy for a time with accumulations of 2 to 5cm are likely locally, especially over hills. There is only a moderate risk of a severe event and showers may merge into some longer periods of sleet, especially early in the day.
Tony Conlan, from MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said:
“There is going to be a band of wintry weather moving south across most of the UK. We can’t rule out a light covering of snow anywhere in the UK.”
It will be another cold and wintry day on Sunday, he said, with snow a possibility in the South East first thing in the morning.
“The rest of the day will see sunshine and quite frequent showers,” said Mr Conlan. “It will definitely feel very cold, with highs of 3C-6C across most of the country.
“There will also be quite a strong, cold, northerly wind over northern and western parts of the UK.”
April is known for its changeable weather, and it seems that this year is no exception.
Timing of these bands will be crucial but current information suggests that there is only a slight risk of some disruption to transport over parts of the Island early in the day.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice on traffic information.
