Schools Admissions Deadline 2010
Nov 13th, 2009 | By Simon Butler | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseParents on the Isle of Wight who are yet to return their school admissions forms are being asked to do so soon or they may not get a place at their preferred school next year.
Application packs were sent via schools and pre-schools to mums and dads of children who will transfer or begin school in just ten months time.
It is very important that the forms are received by Isle of Wight Council’s Admissions Office at County Hall in Newport by 5pm on Monday 30 November. Parents should not return them direct to schools.
Forms can be completed either online via EduWight which can be accessed via Isle of Wight Council’s website – www.iwight.com – or you can send them through the post.
Parents who apply online will be emailed a confirmation that their application form has been received electronically. The deadline for completing an online form is also 5pm on 30 November.
Admission to high schools for September 2010 IS NOT affected by the reorganisation of the school system on the Island. Pupils entering Year 9 in September 2010 WILL be able to complete their GCSE course on the same site.
There will be no admission into Year 5 of the Middle Schools and Christ the King College for September 2010. Pupils entering Year 5 in September 2010 will remain in their current primary schools.
If parents are applying for their child to attend a voluntary aided church primary in the reception class in 2010 they must include that school in their preferences and also obtain a supplementary form from the school concerned. This supplementary form must be returned to the school and not the council’s Admissions Office.
If parents want confirmation that their application form has been received by the Council, they need to send a stamped addressed envelope along with the form and an acknowledgement will be sent.
Parents will be sent a letter, or an email if the form was completed online, confirming the school where their child has been reserved a place, in early March 2010. Anyone with any queries should ring the Admissions Office by telephoning 823455 or emailing school.admissions@iow.gov.uk
