Russell Crowe Stars in Salty Cinema at Cowes Week

A special showing of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World will be screened tonight at the Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.  This is a first for the Isle of Wight not least the world’s first ever sail-in cinema.

The free event provided by Regatta sponsor Talisker will take place just off the Esplanade from 7pm on Friday 12th August and boats arriving in the Solent will be able to enjoy the entertainment.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, the epic movie starring Russell Crowe, was selected by Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week competitors and fans of Cowes Week on Facebook www.facebook.com/talisker

The screening will precede the annual Cowes firework display to celebrate the end of a week of sailing.

The film’s audio will be provided by Cowes Radio on 87.7FM, meaning the viewing will be open to all yachts in the Solent.

Talisker’s brand manager, Juliet McInnes, said: ‘We are really excited about bringing this unique experience to the world’s best-known sailing event.

‘We are delighted to bring a popular film to the Cowes audience to help celebrate the end to a remarkable week of sailing.’
