Royal Princes Mingle With Isle of Wight Locals.

PA reports:  Princes William and Harry are reported to have spent the weekend with a gang of friends mixing with locals in a host of pubs and restaurants on the Isle of Wight.

The royal brothers were in Cowes on Friday and Saturday night taking part in drinking games and watching bands in what could have been stag celebrations for a friend.

On Friday the all male group went to the Anchor pub in the sailing town dressed in cricket whites and on Saturday they visited the Anchor again and a few other pubs and restaurants dressed in rugby shirts emblazoned with ‘Pedro’s Cowes Tour 2008′.

Later on Saturday night they went on to a private party at the Rawlings hotel in the town where it is believed they were staying. It is thought the weekend was a stag celebration with one of the group in a fancy dress biker’s outfit.

Manager of the Anchor Ashley Pamphilon said: “They were all very polite to the staff - it was a nice evening and good to have them here. I was told by a gentleman that he wanted to book a table in a private area for dinner and that was the first I knew about it.

“I don’t know for sure whether it was a stag weekend, it could have just been a sailing jolly.

“There was a large group of them and they were all well behaved. On Friday they came in dressed in cricket whites and last night in rugby shirts and Harry had something like ‘Hazza’ written on the back of his shirt.

“The locals were quite surprised to see them over here but no-one fainted, although there was a lot of text messaging going on as people couldn’t quite believe it.”

Meanwhile bookmakers William Hill said they think Prince William could soon be having his own stag celebration. The betting shop slashed the odds on the Prince and his girlfriend Kate Middleton getting engaged in 2008 from 2/1 to 1/2 following a string of wagers over the weekend.

“Speculation has reached fever pitch and we would be astounded if there is no announcement this year,” said spokesman Rupert Adams. The odds for an engagement in 2009 are 2/1 and then they lengthen to 4/1 for 2010.

  1. Royal boozy stag weekend.

    Published: Today 00.01am

PRINCE William dropped his trousers and downed pints of bitter as he and brother Harry gave their royal cousin a boozy stag weekend to remember.

The infamous drinking duo joined Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips for a 72-hour bender.

And at one point they were so boozed up that they LOST him.

\\\\\\\’It\\\\\\\’s been an awesome stag do\\\\\\\’ … Prince Harry

The high jinks began last Friday morning as the stag party boarded a high-speed ferry from Southampton to Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

As passengers looked on amazed, Peter, 30, was forced to swap his clothes for a skin-tight white leotard. Then he was made to kneel down and sup lager from a HOSEPIPE.

Once on the island the group — some also in fancy dress — headed to a cricket pitch for a boozy game.

Then William and Harry arrived to join the fun. Wills, 25, had dashed down from RAF Cranwell, Lincs, where he received his pilot’s wings.

And within hours the revellers headed to a pub, where they rubbed shoulders with bemused locals.

As one of a string of drinking challenges Peter, who weds his Canadian fiancee next month, had to carry a child’s doll for the entire weekend — or face downing an extra pint.

He soon hit on the idea of stuffing it down the front of his boxer shorts.

At the pub the group spent hours playing pool and partied to a band.

Astonished local Sophie Bleak, 39, said: “I was just sitting watching the band when Prince Harry came over holding a funnel and a pint of beer and said I had to have a drink.

“He put the funnel in my mouth and began pouring lager down it — but after two gulps I had to give up.

“He laughed, gave me a big hug and told me to have a good night.

    Challenge … Peter with doll

“It was incredible seeing those two guys in here out on the beer with just the ordinary locals.

“Harry and William were as good as gold. They drank until the music ended, then left with the police officers who were looking after them.”

Another drinker said: “The guys were having a good night out — dancing, chatting and stitching Peter up.”

At one point, after hours of heavy drinking, William and Harry, 23, were heard panicking because Peter was nowhere to be seen.

Soldier Harry — wearing the baseball cap he had in Afghanistan, bearing the slogan “I do bad things to bad people” — yelled: “Where the f*** is the stag? We’ve lost the f****** stag.”

After a frantic search, Peter was found slumped in a shop doorway. The party then headed to their hotel with a gaggle of girls in tow.

At 2am Wills, a girl chum and two lads went into a function room and began playing drinking games.

They stood in a circle and the heir to the throne pulled down his trousers as part of a drinking fine — revealing a pair of royal blue boxers.

On Saturday morning, the 23- strong group went to Cowes marina for a day’s sailing. Looking the worse for wear, they groaned as they were taken to a yacht by dinghy.Once on board, Peter was quickly forced to down a “hair of the dog” drink of beer mixed with vodka.

His pals held him down as one drew a moustache and glasses on his face with a black marker pen.

On their second night, the party forced Peter into a purple lycra catsuit with red briefs over the top — and TAPED a pint glass to his hand.Others on the stag do, including rugby star Mike Tindall — boyfriend of Peter’s sister Zara — wore polo shirts with “Pedro’s Stag” emblazoned on the front and their nicknames on the back. The princes had Wills and Hazza on theirs.

One pal said: “They may all have been three sheets to the wind all weekend but it was all in good humour. There wasn’t a hint of any trouble, it was just a great laugh.”

Peter is due to wed Autumn Kelly, 29, at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 17. Asked how he was coping with the weekend, he joked: “I’m still alive.” Harry said as the bash drew to a close: “It’s been an awesome stag do — it will just take us a while to recover.”
