Isle of Wight Police are appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy received serious injuries in a road traffic incident near Blackwater.
Officers were informed the boy had fallen off a bicycle as he was passed by two motorcyclists travelling in the opposite direction along Sandy Lane. There was no contact between the cyclist and the motorcycle riders.
The boy from Newport, received serious facial injuries, which were not life threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment after the incident, which happened at approximately 11.30am on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the road traffic incident. No detailed descriptions of the bikes and riders were given at the scene, but officers remain keen to trace the motorcyclists so more details about what happened can be established.
