Police Investigate Assault In Cowes

Isle of Wight Police are appealing for witnesses after allegations of an unprovoked assault on a 19-year-old woman, last Friday night in Cowes.
 
The woman from Newport has told officers she was attacked in Queens Road at the rear of the Royal Yacht Squadron at around 9.30pm on Friday, August 8th.
 
The woman has bruising to her left eye, and the left side of her face.
 
She was treated at St. Mary’s Hospital in Newport for her injuries, and later discharged.
 
A man suspected of assaulting the woman is described as: White: 6’ 1” tall: Medium build: Fair hair: Blue eyes.
 
PC Justin Smith from Cowes Police Station said: 

“The injured woman was on her own in the moments before an assault is alleged to have taken place. “There were many people in this area of Cowes at the time because of the fireworks display, and I’m appealing for anyone with information, or who saw what happened, to contact police.”
