Feb 28th, 2008 | By John Coles | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

Police on the Isle of Wight are trying to trace the owner of an outboard motor found inside a trailer stolen from Newport.

It is thought the Yamaha 40 outboard motor, which is grey with a red band around it, was taken from somewhere on the Island.

The motor also has a serial number which police are keen to match to an owner.

The Ifor Williams Tower Van trailer was taken from the cricket ground development on Blackwater Road in Newport sometime between 5.30pm on Saturday, February 16th, and 12.30pm on Sunday, February 17th.

Inside, police discovered a smaller trailer and the outboard motor.

Four men from Northamptonshire, 21, 22, 22 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of theft and have been bailed until Tuesday, May 5th, 2008.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Larry Grist at Newport police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Mini-Com users can call 01962 875000.
