Police Appeal for Witnesses

Witness appeal after woman grabbed in Carisbrooke.

Isle of Wight Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was grabbed by a man in Carisbrooke during the early hours of Thursday, August 17.

The 20-year-old was walking home around 1.15am after spending the evening in Newport, when she noticed a man walking behind her as she headed up the Mall.

As she approached the car dealership on the corner of Wellington Road she crossed the street, but the man followed her and grabbed her from behind. The woman screamed as loud as she could and managed to break free and run away up Carisbrooke High Street.

Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who saw a man hanging around, witnessed the attack or heard the woman scream.

The man is described as:

Mid twenties 
Around 5ft 5ins tall 
Of medium build 
He was wearing a hooded top
