Isle of Wight News: WOW Factor Photographic Winners 2009
Five lucky winners of the recent Quay Arts’ Young People’s WOW Factor Photography competition are Joey Oliver, 17 from Cowes with Leap, Jina Parker, 18 from Newport with Mist, Tyler Frankling, 16 from Ryde with Pop, Rosie Battison, 17 from Cowes with New York Skyline and Joel Hayden, 16 from Billingham with Rise.

The WOW! FACTOR photography competition for 14-18 yr olds  was borne of an idea from students Jess Smith and Lydia Denham, who decided to create something to get young people involved with Quay Arts.

As Island Pulse advertised: the ‘WOW FACTOR’ photo competition which for a £1 entry fee, two 14-18yr olds would get the chance of winning a photography masterclass.   After a request to put a call out for entries a few days before the close of the competition, there were over 50 entries and the judges found it difficult to choose only 20.

Five winners were announced on Sat 19th Dec 2009. Their prize will be a masterclass with one of the Isle of Wight’s leading Photographers David White.  The photography competition showcase exhibition is still open for viewing in the Learning Curve Gallery until 9th January 2009.
