English Heritage is supporting the events, to encourage wider public access to the stately home. Head of visitor operations on the Isle of Wight Dean Pascall says:
Staging concerts in the grounds of important historic sites like Osborne House is a very immediate way of engaging people with their heritage as well as attracting a diverse audience, some of whom may never normally visit a historic property.
“We hope they go away with lasting memories of a fantastic evening’s music made even more special by the superb backdrop.
Paul Weller, With an amazing catalogue of records from his days in The Jam and the Style Council will perform live in concert on 26th July. Joining Paul are indie rock four piece The Rifles who are heavily influenced by The Clash, The Jam and 90s Britpop.
The concert will also feature Arno Carstens, the South African rock star and the sounds of the Hipshaker Dj’s, both favourites at last years Isle of Wight Festival.
Girls Aloud will perform live in concert the following day on 27th July.
Girls Aloud have become one of the most successful British pop groups of the decade, with a record-breaking 18 consecutive Top 10 singles. The pop princesses are set to light up the Island, with support acts (confirmed shortly).
