Outdoor Arts and Crafts @ Freshwater Library
Aug 6th, 2008 | By Simon Butler | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseIsle of Wight Council’s Library Service is preparing for the 14th annual Outdoor Arts and Crafts which takes place on Wednesday 13th August on the lawns of Freshwater Library.
Since 1995, the cream of the Island’s artists and crafts people have visited the library lawns. This year’s event has already attracted a wide variety of crafts which include knot and rope work, lacework, driftwood mirrors and glass painting. Also featured will be displays of eye-catching local photographs and paintings.
Children are also well catered for with Rhymetime for babies and toddlers which takes place from 10.30, followed by a storytime for 5 to 9 year olds. For those interested in dinosaurs and painting, Paul van Giap will run a fossil making and painting workshop for children of all ages.
The event is free, and refreshments are available. The arts and crafts will be displayed on the lawns from 10am until 4pm.
Isle of Wight Council Leader David Pugh said
“The Arts and Crafts event is now a firm summer fixture, and has given so much pleasure to artists and visitors alike over the past 13 years. Only once since the start of the event in 1995 has there not been sunshine, so lets hope this year continues that trend”
