Due to poor ground conditions at Bathingbourne the 2013 Isle of Wight Hedgelaying Competition will now be held at Dunsbury Farm in Brook.
The 21st Annual IW Hedgelaying Competition is to be held on Saturday 23rd February 2013 from 10:00am until 3:30pm. In a change from the previously advertised location this year’s site is at Dunsbury Farm, Brook, PO30 4EL, by kind permission of Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Seely.
The farm entrance is down the road immediately opposite the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Brook.
Entry is free for competitors and observers; spectators are welcome. As usual there will be a glittering display of prizes and a very good chance of winning one.
This year we will include our usual large range of trophies and of course some valuable prizes, including the prize introduced in 2007 to be awarded to the best laid hedge using only hand tools.
Our new site will be the middle section of a hedge we have already used twice before. The site is very well-drained and has a large area of dry parking, so should be safe to use even if the weather is poor. We are very grateful to Dunsbury Farm for their help at this late stage.
If you have already submitted your entry form please reply to me and confirm that you know the site has moved, otherwise we might ring you up and pester you until you do – we don’t want any competitors ending up on the wrong site.
If you know anyone else planning to attend the competition please pass this message on.
