New Isle of Wight Public Transport Handbook.
Sep 28th, 2007 | By Island Pulse | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseThe latest version of the Island’s only comprehensive public transport handbook is now available. The free guide, published by the Isle of Wight Council includes timetable information on bus, rail and ferry services to, from and within the Island.Â
The public transport handbook covers the autumn/winter season from September 30th to January 5th. Details include information on the busiest National Express routes from Portsmouth and Southampton, some train information and also details of travel to mainland hospitals. The new One Island SMS scheme that will enable bus timetable information to be texted to passengers mobile phones and also details of chain ferry sailings.
Cllr Tim Hunter-Henderson, IW Council cabinet member for environment and transport, said:
“Based on customer feedback, the first public transport handbook was extremely well received by the general public”.
“We have worked closely with local transport operators to ensure we have provided accurate and updated timetable information and we have also taken on board many suggestions from users of the first edition as to how we could improve the publication”.
“The IW Council encourages people to use the public transport network so it is only right we also provide the information necessary to make it convenient for them to do so.”
The handbook is available from Isle of Wight Council Customer Help Centres, from libraries and Tourist information Centres and from Wightbus drivers.
