New All ‘Wight’ Colouring Book.
Jun 9th, 2007 | By Citizen Media | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseFamous landmarks on the Isle of Wight feature in the second edition of the “Brilliant Wight Colouring Book” for youngsters which is being launched at Dinosaur Isle in Sandown on Saturday June 23rd.
Children are being asked to come along and colour in poster sized drawings from the book which features illustrations of the Island’s favourite landmarks including Ryde Pier, Dinosaur Isle, the lifeboat station at Bembridge and Newport’s Quay Arts Centre.
The book – the second to be published – is supported by the Isle of Wight Council’s Arts Unit, the Island 2000 Trust, the AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) Partnership and leader plus via the Isle of Wight Economic Partnership.
The book is part of ‘Brill Books’ which is Island 2000’s publishing arm. All the drawings arre submitted by Island artists and a selection committee decides which ones go in.
The launch will feature the images blown up from the book to poster size so that families can join in the colouring in fun and create their own poster.
There will also be badge making available for 50p.
Colouring books can be brought from Tourist Information Centres or from Island 2000 Trust and will be available on the day.
The free event takes place between 10am and 12.30pm at Dinosaur Isle in Sandown. It will be held in the open air if the weather is fine but inside in the education room if it is bad.
