The Official Mount Gay Rum’s Red Cap Party took place on Thursday at Shepard’s Wharf, Cowes.
The infamous Red Cap Party was a huge success with hundreds turning out to claim a coveted red cap and enjoy the delights of Mount Gay Rum.
Peppermint Events put on a fantastic party with a steel band playing as crews lined up to be the first 500 through the door to claim a coveted Mount Gay Rum Red Cap from the 2012 Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week regatta.
Seven tons of sand was shipped in for the party which featured a giant deck chair and a real beach party atmosphere. A live band played later in the evening and a DJ took the crews late into the evening as they enjoyed Mount Gay Rum cocktails at the bar.
Supplies of the Mount Gay Red Caps were limited to 500, which meant that many missed out. However, after a couple of glasses of rum, the disappointment of not bagging a hat was soon forgotten, leaving partygoers to enjoy a classic Caribbean evening.
