Man Tries To Rob Woman In Sandown

The attempted robbery of a woman in Sandown on the Isle of Wight is being investigated by detectives.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was walking home from a night out when she was approached by a man who tried to steal her handbag.

She resisted and managed to keep hold of her bag. The woman was not seriously injured.

Nothing was stolen in the attempted robbery, which took place at around half past midnight this morning (Saturday, February 9) in Grafton Street near = the junction with Grafton Lane.

The man was described as wearing a black hooded top.

Witnesses or anyone with information about a man acting suspiciously in Grafton Street in Sandown late on Friday night are asked to contact Isle of Wight CID at Newport Police Station by phoning 101.
