Isle of Wight Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a road traffic incident in Newport.
At around 1.10pm today, a white Fiat was in collision with a Vauxhall Omega on Holyrood Street at the junction with Crocker Street.
The Fiat driver, a man in his 70s, received medical treatment at the scene before being taken to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the possibility he may have suffered a medical episode at the wheel.
The Vauxhall was stationary at the time and no-one else was injured as a result of the collision
The road was closed to allow police to investigate and recover the scene. It was reopened at around 2.40pm.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Fiat driving prior to it.
