Make A Difference Day On Wight

Play your part in Make a Difference Day, the UK’s biggest day of volunteering, is to take place, on Saturday 31st October.  Events taking place on the Isle of Wight 30th October 2009 from 10:00 to 14:00 include: Helping Wildlife:

Buzz into Action – an area will be cleared at Kitbridge Farm, Forest Road, Newport, in order to create a habitat for bees and hedgehogs. There will be activities for all catered for – get in touch beforehand with Mr Mark Earp on 01983 521766 to find out more.

Make A Difference Day: Activities already completed include a litter sweep through Freshwater and Footprint Trust activities at the Riverside Centre in Newport.

This year Community Service Volunteers (CSV) want to create a wave of kindness throughout the UK –to bring people together, beat the recession gloom and help build stronger, happier and safer communities.

CSV Make a Difference Day Photo Competition: The search is on for the best photos from the campaign, with the chance to win one of several fantastic prizes!  The winners will be the photos that best represent what you did for the day.

A wide variety of stars from the world of TV and radio are getting behind the campaign this year.  Celebrities backing the campaign include Chris Tarrant, Pete Waterman, Ben Fogle, Kate Humble, Twiggy, Gillian McKeith, Aggie MacKenzie, Emma Forbes and Arthur Smith.
