Live/Wired Final Call For First Round Entries
Nov 13th, 2009 | By Ross Findon | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseActs have until noon today, Friday (13th) to submit their entries in the first round of this year’s Isle of Wight Live/Wired competition 2009.
This is the chance for all up and coming artists to compete for the chance to play at the IW Festival, record in a top studio and have their track played on IW Radio.
The four bands chosen by the public at www.iwcp.co.uk/livewired will compete on stage for the chance to go up against the two winners of round one’s live heat, due to take place at the Wight Rock Bar on Friday, December 18th.
The County Press competition, in association with Platform One and IW Radio, has already attracted entries from some of the Island’s best music acts.
Revenge of the Lawn, who had to pull out of last year’s live heat due to various illnesses afflicting half of the band, are back, along with Island indie favourites The Kurves. Nearly New, Cellar Ghost, New Set of Bruises, The Acoustics and Bright as Vegas.
From next Friday (20th November) they will compete in an on-line poll at County Press website www.iwcp.co.uk/livewired.
The public will be able to hear tracks and vote for their favourites with the top four acts sent through to a live heat to be held at The Wight Rock Bar, Ryde on December 18th.
Voting closes on Monday, December 7th and the four acts will be announced on Friday, December 11th.
A panel of judges will then choose two bands from the live heat to go through to a Grand Final.
Anyone who missed the deadline for the first round of Live/Wired will have the chance to enter the second round of the competition in January.
A second window for entries will open on January 1st, 2010 ahead of the competition’s second round.
Acts will be able to submit entries by e-mail or on CD from January 1st until January 22.
The second on-line round of voting will start on January 29th and finish on February 15th ahead of a live clash on February 26 at the Wight Rock Bar where the top four bands chosen by the public will compete for the remaining two slots in the Grand Final – to be held at Ryde Theatre on April 2, 2010.
