Last Chance To Enter IWPOY 2008

Oct 17th, 2008 | By Carolyn Keene | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

There is only a fews days left for Island Photographers to register and submit images for the annual Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Award (IWPOY).

With over 250 images  already entered IWPOY organisers have extended the original deadline for entries from 16th until 18th October 2008.

This extention affords all those photographers who have already registered to make sure they have followed the simple rules of this free to enter competition and for the organisers to finally announce just who will be judging this years IWPOY.

The decision this year to keep the Judges names and profiles underwraps, was quite simple, said the organisers:

“The intention of the IWPOY was to create a camaraderie within the Island photographic community.

“The Awards are impartial and free to enter, we did not wish the photographers, whether amateur or professional, to gain any unfair advantage by uploading images which could be misconstrued as playing to the judges preferences.”

Registrations for the IWPOY are still being accepted click HERE: (IWPOY).

Preparations for the 2nd exhibition in the Olympus Gallery at Dimbola Lodge of the 50 images from last years winners (images below) is well underway.  An invitation only opening night reception is planned.  More details coming soon…
