Last night the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards at the Riverside Centre was very well attended with over 100 people happy to celebrate the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners.
Brian Hinton MBE and David White from Dimbola Lodge performed a very interesting double act in giving an overview of Dimbola Photographic History and of the first lady of photography on the Island Julia Margaret Cameron.
Presenting the IWPOY Awards were Charles Chapman and Brian Dennis who both remarked on the fantastic quality of images that were worthy of their status in the competition.
1st, 2nd and 3rd winners were presented with Canvas prints of their images, provided by Essential Canvas Prints. 1st place went to Kevin Mitchell who not only gained the title of Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year 2006 but gets to spend a day with an Isle of Wight County Press Photographer and a special prize of annual passes for 2007 was presented by Gary d’Aquitaine on behalf of Appuldurcombe Owl and Falconry Centre.
