A series of digital artworks and photographic images based on the 25 series to be exhibited on the Isle of Wight at Dimbola Museum – home of celebrated Victorian Photographer Julia Margaret Cameron – 7th September to 4th November 2012.
25 is a collection of work that develops the representation of time and space using the 5 x 5 grid. The work is made up of a series of large-scale printed panels and projected digital images.
Julian Konczak states: My work orientates itself around an examination of our surroundings and the way we perceive them. A fascination with both the natural world and the metropolis pulls me in opposing directions and provides the raw material.
The combination of transient linear and interactive digital works withstatic print imagery allows the viewer to respond to the intricatedetail of the static image along with the fluid qualities of the digital medium. The 25-image grid format uses simultaneous representations of the same subject, each segment confronts the next, there is an absence of negative space in the grid, and so the images are forced to bleed into one another. The viewer is presented with aganzfield – the blocks of image become a fractured whole.
