As part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the Friends of the Minster in Newport are planning a second Sponsored Bible Reading event in and for the Minster on Monday 28th May.
There will be a Civic Service tonight at 5.00 pm when the Bishop of Portsmouth will visit the Minster. He has kindly agreed to launch the Bible Reading event at the end of this service and we will hope for it to continue until about 6.00 pm on Wednedsay 30th May.
The idea is for people to get sponsored to read the Bible for sessions of 20 minutes in the Minster at a pre-arranged time, and, with a bit of luck, continuously. Last time we did this some people preferred not to be sponsored but did the reading and made a donation.
