the Jazz national DAB Radio station becomes Media Partner of the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival.

Promoters, Philip Snellen and Geri Ward, are said to be delighted with theJazz co-promotion and hope it will bring greater national recognition to a targeted audience of all ages who love jazz and encourage more people than ever to spend a school holiday weekend on the Isle of Wight to attend the Jazz Festival.

theJazz, the UK’s first national radio station dedicated to playing jazz night and day, is to be the official media partner of the Isle of Wight International Festival. theJazz, which enjoyed the most successful launch in DAB digital radio history, has close to half a million listeners a week and the partnership is a major breakthrough for the Festival.

Every April the eclectic seaside town of Ventnor“ historically the watering hole of artists and writers like Dickens and now one a population of bohemian artistic tendencies transforms into the Capital of Jazz in the Deep South of the UK, as it welcomes a huge number of illustrious names that span the jazz world across the Atlantic in a programme of music that spans the generations and can easily be described as well balanced but uncompromising and definitely not mediocre.

With all sounds of the ever-evolving jazz genre but definitely erring towards the funky and the emerging talent of this jazz generation, this jazz festival is a brave and totally honest representation of the way jazz was and is. With legendary Maceo Parker headlining the weekend, this is the jazz festival of the year not to miss out on.

The Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival this year takes place in the school holidays, starting midday Friday 11 April and finishing late Sunday 13 April 2008. Tickets are available from the dedicated “Jazz Office” at 6 Pier Street, Ventnor, Isle of Wight or by phoning 01983 856206 or 856200 or indeed booking on line at the website . Concert tickets are so limited by capacity of Ventnor’s Winter Gardens that they are exclusive and it is definitely recommended to buy early in either an all-inclusive weekend package or as a stand-alone ticket. First come, first served.
