IW Hockey Club Festival 2008.

The Isle of Wight Hockey Club recently held its Annual Hockey Festival over the weekend of 10th and 11th May at Newport Victoria Recreation Ground.
There were matches for men’s, ladies and mixed teams with sides travelling and taking part from across the UK along with Isle of Wight Mens and Vectis Ladies Hockey Club’s.
From start to finish the weekend was full of fun with some great costumes and themes from visiting sides. which made for some interesting action, as pictured below.
The hockey festival was a great way to end the season and very much centred on fun rather than being serious. A big thank you to all the teams who attended.
Unlike last year, this years sunshine was ordered in advance, and we got it by the bucket load with scorching temperatures. The Saturday night disco and band was sold out and the organisers are already planning for the IW Hockey Festival 2009.
The league season is now finished and the Isle of Wight Hockey club enters the summer break. Players will resume training in August ahead of the season which kicks off in September.
The club currently runs three men’s teams and a junior team, with close links with the Vectis Ladies team, so anyone can become involved in the sport.
