The Isle of Wight Council is today (Monday) December 3rd, recognising the United Nations International Day for Disabled Persons by staging an awards ceremony at Ventnor Botanic Gardens.  The glittering event is being hosted by the Island’s High Sheriff David Langford and will celebrate individual and business achievements in promoting equality and diversity.

December 3rd was declared by the United Nations as International Day for Disabled Persons some years ago.  The declaration obligates countries and organizations around the world to take note once a year of the state of disabled persons in their midst.
