IW Council Lights of Love

Dec 10th, 2009 | By Anna Price | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

The Isle of Wight Council’s Bereavement Service is holding its annual Lights of Love Service on Friday 11 December and anyone who wishes to attend is invited. The event starts at 7pm at the crematorium in Whippingham.

The evening will start with a welcome message before hymns, readings, prayers and will include music from All Saints Gurnard Choir during the service.

Members of the congregation will then have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one, before gathering around the Christmas tree which will be illuminated while a carol is sung.

A collection will also be held during the evening to raise money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice. Mince pies and mulled wine will be served following the service.

The Lights of Love Service was first held in 2002 at the Isle of Wight Crematorium. Anyone wishing to find out more information can contact the bereavement service on (01983) 882288.
