Isle of Wight Zoo Up For UKTV Channel Eden Award

Zoo nominated for Eden’s Top Wildlife Attraction 2011.

The Isle of Wight Zoo is in the running for a national award from UKTV Channel Eden.  The zoo is the only Island attraction involved in the campaign, which pits 20 of the UK’s top animal attractions against each other.

Visitors are invited to vote online (www.isleofwightzoo.com) or via postcards which are available at the zoo.

Eden’s Top Wildlife Attraction of the Year 2011 competition will run until the 16th September, and will give the competing attractions national publicity on the channel.

“We’re thrilled to have been nominated for this award,” said Sonia Mitchell, the zoo’s Marketing Supervisor. “It’s a testament to the hard work of the whole team that we’re able to compete with some of the country’s most prestigious wildlife attractions. Now we’re asking the Isle of Wight community to please get behind their local zoo and help us take on the big names!’

2011 has so far been a very positive year for the zoo, who announced the birth of a rare black lemur, unveiled their revamped jaguar enclosure and are now working on a wallaby exhibit ready for the summer. The zoo continues to offer discounted admission to local residents, and staff hope to see many Islanders visiting – and voting – this Summer. Visit www.isleofwightzoo.com website.
