Isle of Wight Youth ‘Rock Nativity’
Nov 30th, 2008 | By John Coles | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseSouth Wight Youth Theatre presents ‘Rock Nativity’ a modern re-telling of the greatest story ever told. The Rock Nativity tour starts today Sunday 30th November, at Ryde Methodist Church and will be performed by a cast of fifty young people aged between 9 and 18 years old in three churches across the Isle of Wight.
The traditional Christmas story, from the annunciation to the flight to Egypt, will be told using a mix of carols, contemporary songs, drama and dance.
Rock Nativity will continue on Saturday 6th December at St Johns Church, Carter Street, Sandown and Sunday 7th December at Newport Minster St Thomas’s Square, Newport.

A wealth of memorable songs highlight this timeless story, effectively re-told in contemporary style, which has a combination of contemporary music, carols, recitatives, dialogue and direct speech to the audience.
