Isle of Wight Wins White Christmas Competition

Nov 19th, 2009 | By Amanda Johnson | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

Thanks to the media efforts of the Isle of Wight County Press and Isle of Wight Radio a competition organised by Nokia to provide an exclusive  faux White Christmas has been won by the Isle of Wight.

The chance of winning this festive competition nearly didn’t happen for the Isle of Wight because the Island was initially left off  the Nokia fun Finnish Christmas  list.

The ticket-only event would take place at Seaclose Park on Wednesday, December 16th.

After the company’s about-turn last week, allowing the Island to enter the competition at the last minute when other areas had three weeks to accumulate votes, the Island quickly climbed to the top of the poll.

The Nokia Christmas party will feature reindeer, food, elves, star chef Marco Pierre White’s Christmas food and drink and eight tonnes of synthetic snow in a Finnish market setting.
