Carolyn Keene reports:   The Isle of Wight Film Festival 2008/2009 season is about to begin with a call for submissions in the Isle Of Wight Short Film Festival, by 1st July 2008.  In conjunction with the Quay Arts and the IOW Film Network, IWSFF aims to give a voice, and prizes to the Island’s best filmmakers.

The festival aims to highlight the best of fiction and non-fiction film making containing life-affirming, positive themes, characters and ideas. Like most festivals, they’re looking for the best that’s out there—content that challenges current forms in storytelling.

There will be quarterly heats held at Quay Arts ending with a final festival in July 2009 where the Audience Award and Jury Award will be presented for the best films. The categories are split into two with an over 18 and under 18 prize.

The first deadline for submissions to the festival is July 1st 2008 with a deadline each quarter thereafter.
