News on 6th January 2010:  Snow has caused chaos on Island roads, the majority of schools are closed  and all buses have been cancelled.  Most IW Council services have ground to a halt.  The Isle of Wight Council website www.iwight.com is experiencing very heavy internet traffic at the moment and may be slow to load.   We will try to keep Island Pulse visitors updated with any changes and service updates.

Roads Update 16:07pm: All principal (main) roads are currently being treated with gritting lorries and on some occasions, snow ploughs. Council officers are inspecting individual roads.

ABANDONED CARS: The council will take a sensible and reasonable approach to cars that have been abandoned in restricted areas. However in order to keep the road network as clear and safe as possible, we would urge motorists to collect their cars as soon as it is safe to do so.
